THE ARTIST

David Orth is a lifetime artist, designer, and craftsman. He works primarily with wood and metal to make abstract sculpture, furniture, and ceremonial objects for people & communities. David interrogates common tropes that isolate art from daily life, tradition from innovation, mind from heart, and other pervasive disconnects propagated in design and human projects generally.

David has two degrees in philosophy, has taught in several departments of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and continues to share his craft and thoughts in multiple venues.
